Springing Into Action To Fix Road Subsidence

We completed emergency drainage and roadwork on Grandview Avenue in Beaumaris this week to fix a small area of subsidence, which developed following recent heavy rain.

We quickly closed the area to make pedestrians and road users safe, and completed works to replace the stormwater drainage and reinstate the road's asphalt and line markings in 2 days.

Every year, Council maintains over 420 kilometres of stormwater drains and 369 kilometres of local roads. Major roads, such as Bay Road, South Road and Hampton Street are managed by the Victorian Government.

This last-minute project prior to Christmas demonstrates our responsiveness to local needs and commitment to providing safe, reliable infrastructure that our community uses every day.
