Square Mortgage Away: Victorian Woman Bags Lotto Win

A Saturday movie night turned into a blockbuster celebration for a Victorian woman, who hit pause on her film to discover she’d secured a win the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

Hailing from St Leonards, this lucky cinephile was one of 13 winners nationally to share the TattsLotto jackpot, pocketing a cool $401,209.07 each on Saturday, 5 October 2024.

These winners, spanning from Queensland to Western Australia, each claimed an equal slice of the $5 million prize.

Recounting her moment of shock, she called her win a game-changer.

"We were just watching the Saturday night movie, and the TattsLotto numbers came up on the screen,” she explained.

“We’ve been playing those numbers for a long time. They’re a mix of our family birthdays and favourite football players’ numbers.

“I thought I recognised about five of them and said, ‘I think they’re our numbers’.

“Then I checked the ticket about 50 times!

“It will certainly help us out – it will help square the mortgage away. It’s a good amount to win. Such great news.

“Now that I know it’s real, I don’t have to keep checking the ticket!”

The woman purchased her winning marked System 8 entry at St Leonards News, Shops 1 & 2, 1376 Murradoc Road, St Leonards.

St Leonards News owner Dale Hancock said he was excited to see a TattsLotto win land in his small community.

“This is the first time we’ve sold a division one winning entry so I’m excited and proud as we are a small community,” he said.

“For our winner, we hope that your win makes your life easier and happier. We thank you for letting us share in your happy moment.

Thank you to all the community that put so much support behind us getting this outlet in the town four years ago and have continued to support us.”

The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4509 on 5 October 2024 were 13, 30,18, 24, 27 and 15, while the supplementary numbers were 41 and 26.

Across Australia, there were 13 division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4509 – four each in Queensland and Victoria, two in New South Wales, and one each in Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia.
