Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery that left a man with serious injuries in St Kilda last night.
It is believed a male and female approached a man who was walking along Barkly Street and made demands for his car keys about 9.15pm.
The male offender, armed with a machete then assaulted the victim and the offenders ran from the scene empty-handed.
The victim, a 39-year-old St Albans man was taken to hospital where he remains with non-life-threatening injuries.
The male offender is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance with brown hair and distinctive blonde mullet. He was wearing a black jumper, black pants and black runners.
The female is described as having dark hair and was wearing a black puffer vest with the brand Hoodrich, white hoodie underneath with black pants.
