St Lukes Symphony Returns to Devonport Waterfront 2025

Devonport City Council Tasmania

Devonport is set to come alive with the return of the prestigious St Lukes Symphony on the Waterfront, featuring the celebrated Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (TSO). Scheduled for February 8, 2025, this event follows the overwhelming success of the 2023 performance and promises another unforgettable evening of world-class music in one of Tasmania's most scenic waterfront settings.

Mayor Alison Jarman expressed her enthusiasm for the event, highlighting its importance to the community and its role in showcasing Devonport's vibrant culture.

"We are absolutely thrilled to host the St Lukes Symphony on the Waterfront once again," she said. "This event is a flagship cultural experience for Devonport, drawing visitors from across Tasmania and beyond. It not only highlights our award-winning Haines Park but also reflects our commitment to providing enriching and accessible cultural opportunities for our community."

The free event, which will take place in Devonport's Waterfront precinct, is expected to attract 5,000 attendees. The concert offers a rare opportunity for residents and visitors alike to enjoy a world-class symphony performance in an outdoor setting, celebrating the region's natural beauty and cultural vitality.

Tasmanian not-for-profit health insurer St Lukes is the principal sponsor of the event. Head of Customer Service Kate Denmen welcomed the opportunity to help bring the event to the community.

"We've had such a great response to TSO concerts hosted in our wellness hubs, so we're thrilled to help bring this symphony to the Devonport waterfront," she said.

"Music is so beneficial in the way it lifts our wellbeing and brings us together for moments of community connectedness - both of which are key to our vision of making Tasmania the healthiest island on the planet."

Caroline Sharpen, CEO of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra said the orchestra was excited to return to Devonport, adding that the 2023 event created unforgettable experiences for both the musicians and the audience.

"We are so pleased to be returning to Devonport in February for Symphony on the Waterfront. Last year's event was such a highlight for us – and how marvellous for it to have been named Community Event of the year at Devonport's Australia Day Awards," Ms Sharpen said.

Although it's a free concert, attendees will need to book online via the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra website. Tickets will become available in January 2025. Sign up to be notified when tickets become available by visiting the concerts page on www.tso.com.au
