Appointment of Head of Monetary Policy Strategy

Dr Meredith Beechey Österholm has been appointed to the new role of Head of Monetary Policy Strategy at the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA).

In the ongoing transformation of our monetary policy analysis, research, advice and communication, this new role will assist the Board in developing monetary policy strategy to support their decision making. Harnessing expertise and collaborating with policy areas across the RBA, the new Monetary Policy Strategy team will ensure sound policy advice is delivered to the Board.

Dr Beechey Österholm previously held influential positions in monetary policy and financial markets at the Riksbank in Sweden and the Federal Reserve in the US and joined the RBA in 2023. Meredith has a PhD from U.C. Berkeley and her research on macro-finance, monetary policy and policy communication features across academic journals. She guest lectures at the Stockholm School of Economics.

Appointment of Head of Future Hub

Ms Nazmiye (Naz) Guler has been appointed Head of the Future Hub and will report to the Governor, Michele Bullock.

The RBA has been undergoing a major transformation over the last fifteen months, and much of that change has been in response to the Review of the RBA, internally that work has been led by the Future Hub.

Much has been achieved and Naz will now lead the team into the next phase as the RBA continues to strengthen our risk and governance frameworks and progressing our culture and leadership ambitions to be an open and dynamic central bank.

Naz joined the RBA in May 2024 as Program Director of the Future Hub. She has more than thirty years global experience leading organisational transformation programs across the financial services industry, focusing on innovation, customer experience and large-scale project delivery.
