The redevelopment of Cambridge Primary School is another step closer after a contractor was appointed to deliver the Rockliff Liberal Government's $15.1 million project.
Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Roger Jaensch, said the contract to deliver Stage 1 of the work has been awarded to Vos Construction and Joinery.
"The major redevelopment of Cambridge Primary School Stage 1 works will deliver refurbishments to existing facilities and construction of new learning spaces, including break out spaces, sensory rooms and covered outdoor areas," Minister Jaensch said.
"The second stage of works will see construction of a new gymnasium and supporting facilities in collaboration with the Clarence City Council.
"Extensive consultation with students, staff and the local community has helped shape the redevelopment of the school and will deliver high quality new facilities for our learners and the community."
The Stage 1 works at Cambridge Primary School are expected to commence this month.
Redevelopment of Cambridge Primary School is part of the Tasmanian Liberal Government's record investment in new education infrastructure across the State since it was elected in 2014.
Liberal Member for Franklin, Dean Young, welcomed the announcement and said he looked forward to touring the site in the future.
"This is a game-changing infrastructure project and development that will create jobs and opportunity for Tasmanian families, while building more connected communities," Mr Young said.
"Importantly, it will soon provide a wonderful space for students and teachers to connect and come together in a fresh and engaging learning environment that benefits everyone.
"Projects like these show the Rockliff Liberal Government is sticking to our long-term plan and doing what matters for all Tasmanians when it comes to education."
The Rockliff Liberal Government is also investing $6.5 million in the redevelopment of Lauderdale Primary School, $21.6 million for upgrades to Hobart City High School, and $24.9 million for the revitalisation of Cosgrove High School.
