Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews will continue to monitor the Stanthorpe/Applethorpe area over the coming days. The fire is now extinguished but smoke will continue to affect the area. The safety of residents and firefighters remains a priority. Local residents may now return to their homes and the previous exclusion zone has ceased. Properties are not under direct threat at this time. Residents affected by smoke should close windows and doors. Those suffering a respiratory condition should keep their medications close by. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions. If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
