Wyndham City Council is proud to announce it has become a Community Partner with The Startup Network (formerly Startup Victoria).
Wyndham City's Future Focused Economy portfolio holder Cr Mia Shaw said: "The Partnership between The Startup Network, and Wyndham City's Economic Development Unit and SPARK Innovation Hub, is the first for a western metropolitan Melbourne council and will open up a range of benefits to emerging and startup businesses in Wyndham including a host of programs and events and access to industry and thought leaders".
The Startup Network is Australia's largest independent not for profit start-up community funded by members, industry and community partners. Their sole focus is supporting founders and entrepreneurs.
The partnership will provide access to their founder and industry networks, community events, education, employment, pitch competitions, experts, business advice and mentoring, programs and seminars and access to investor communities.
Dickie Currer, Head of Partnerships said: "The Startup Network is thrilled with our newborn partnership with Wyndham City Council and can't wait to connect our already thriving ecosystem with the best Startup talent coming out of the West of Melbourne."
"As part of our mission to become the National Independent Startup Community serving the whole of Australia, it's so important for us to collaborate with municipalities outside of the typical Metro areas. So, we're hoping that this partnership will be the catalyst for more representation across the country."
"We're also especially excited to be a presenting partner for 2024's WYNnovation pitch competition, with participants across the country being invited to solve some of the city's biggest problems. Pitch competitions are what we do best, so the opportunity to contribute to this and be a part of our very first in the West is very exciting!" said Dickie Currer
"The Partnership will support Wyndham City's Economic Development Unit and SPARK Innovation Hub programs and initiatives, aimed at growing Wyndham's entrepreneurial ecosystem," Cr Shaw said.
"Wyndham City's Economic Development Unit offers a range of services and support for small, home-based, medium or large businesses in Wyndham and staff are available to provide information about Council services, and assistance as well as other government support for business."
"There will be a suite of business events and initiatives, programs and workshops in 2024."
SPARK, Wyndham City's Innovation Hub located in the East Werribee Employment precinct is a collaborative space to support and mentor creative, innovative, solution driven emerging businesses and entrepreneurs, and digital, tech start-ups, to scale up their concepts and products, to commercialisation.
