State Appoints Monitors for Casey Council Support

The State Government has today appointed two experienced municipal monitors to oversee the conduct and performance of the newly-elected City of Casey Council.

• Peter Stephenson: appointed from 6 November 2024 to 6 November 2025. Mr Stephenson was previously a Monitor and interim-Administrator at Strathbogie Shire Council in Victoria's south-east, providing support and continuity to the Shire's operations.

• Cameron Boardman: appointed from 20 November 2024 to 6 November 2025. Mr Boardman has served as a member of the Panel of Administrators at Casey and will bring his knowledge and understanding of the organisation to support the new Councillors.

The monitors have been appointed for a 12-month period and will provide independent advice and oversight to ensure the effective and transparent operation of the local government.

The two monitors will work closely with the new Council and report directly to the Local Government Minister. Their role will be to ensure that the Council meets its governance obligations and operates in a way that best serves the interests of the local community.

The appointment follows the recent local government election in the City of Casey, with the monitors tasked with supporting the transition and helping the 12 new Councillors establish strong governance practices for the year ahead.

City of Casey Chief Executive Officer Glenn Patterson said he was pleased to welcome the appointment of Peter Stephenson and Cameron Boardman as municipal monitors for the City of Casey.

"Their expertise and experience will be invaluable in supporting the new Council as they settle into their roles and focus on serving the local community. We look forward to having them guide and assist the Council in strengthening governance and ensuring that decisions are made with integrity and transparency over the next 12 months," Mr Patterson said.
