State Appoints Veteran CEO for DevelopmentWA

  • Dean Mudford officially appointed CEO of DevelopmentWA
  • Accomplished property leader with more than 25 years of delivery experience

The Cook Government has today announced the appointment of Dean Mudford as the Chief Executive Officer of DevelopmentWA, the State Government's land development agency.

Mr Mudford is an accomplished leader with more than 25 years of experience in the property and construction industry with a successful track record of project delivery and has been appointed as CEO for a term of five years beginning today, Monday, 29 July 2024.

Dean has delivered projects across all sectors of the property market in Australia including residential, industrial, commercial and hospitality. He is a former Vice President of the Property Council of Australia (WA Division) and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Mr Mudford has been acting CEO of DevelopmentWA, where he has taken a leading role in the delivery of a range of projects from affordable and social housing projects to priority State Government projects such as the Ocean Reef Marina and the Australian Marine Complex.

As stated by Lands and Housing Minister John Carey:

"On behalf of the Cook Government, I congratulate Dean Mudford on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer at DevelopmentWA.

"Mr Mudford will play a central role in delivering the Cook Government's record $3.2 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures.

"His experience is diverse and includes senior roles within Stockland and Mirvac prior to his appointment as DevelopmentWA's Chief Operating Officer in 2015.

"Mr Mudford brings extensive knowledge and capabilities to the role and working across Government and industry he will play an important role in assisting the State Government to boost housing supply."

As stated by DevelopmentWA Chair Darren Cooper:

"Dean is a highly experienced property executive. His experience in delivering both land and built form development, together with his senior executive experience, makes him ideally suited as the CEO of DevelopmentWA.

"Dean also has a proven track record over his nine years with DevelopmentWA, which positions the organisation to seamlessly continue its mission to deliver exceptional places for the State."
