Kingston Council has submitted four key projects for Victorian Government funding under the current round of the Community Local Sports Infrastructure Fund 2022.
The projects include the construction of female-friendly changerooms at Walter Galt Reserve in Mordialloc; the installation of new sports lighting on the second oval at Walter Galt Reserve and the Bonbeach St Chads Baseball Club's Diamond 1; and the upgrade of the Peter Scullin Reserve Playspace also in Mordialloc.
Mayor Steve Staikos said Council is committed to improving facilities across the city, as shown by the record capital investment in the 2022-23 budget, and any assistance from the Victorian Government would be greatly appreciated.
"All of these projects strongly align with the eligibility criteria and will collectively address current barriers to participation, improve accessibility, increase participation rates, provide much needed support to our local sporting clubs, and assist in the promotion of healthy active lifestyles for the community," Cr Staikos said.
"We have successful partnered with the State Government on a multitude of projects and programs, and we look forward to working together to see these through to fruition as well."
