State Under Secretary John Bass to Commemorate D-Day in Nebraska

Under Secretary Bass will travel to Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska on June 5-7 to discuss U.S. foreign policy and how it advances the security, prosperity, and values of Nebraskans and all Americans.

Under Secretary Bass will meet with community members and leaders from veterans' groups, military services, academia, student groups, industry, local government, refugee communities, and relief organizations. His engagements will include fireside chats at Creighton University and the University of Nebraska, attending the opening of a new Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and a range of other local stakeholder meetings.

On Thursday, June 6, exactly 80 years since the 1944 allied invasion of Nazi-occupied France-known as "D-Day"-Under Secretary Bass will join a special event hosted by the Nebraska National Guard and Veterans of Foreign Wars. From 6:00pm-7:00pm at the Nebraska National Guard Museum just outside Lincoln, Under Secretary Bass will join veterans, service members, and guests to see an original amphibious Higgins Boat like the ones used to storm the beaches of Normandy and turn the tide of World War II.
