Statement From Attorney-General 15 November

Tasmanian Government

I note the recent finalisation of charges in the Hobart Magistrates Court against Justice Gregory Geason.

I also note the sentencing submissions made by counsel acting on his behalf that he intends to imminently resign as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.

The Government has not yet received confirmation of Justice Geason's resignation.

Failing confirmation of Justice Geason's resignation before the next Parliamentary sitting day, it is my intention to move a motion in the House of Assembly calling on the Governor to remove Justice Geason.
