Statement From Premier 20 September

Tasmanian Government

Wes Ford has advised me of his intention to retire in March 2025.

Mr Ford has dedicated 39 years to the Tasmanian Government and during that time, served many governments with integrity, commitment and foresight.

Mr Ford has played a significant role in Tasmania's environmental regulation over many decades, including through complex and contested areas, such water reforms, and developing and implementing regulatory models for finfish farming as new industries emerged and expanded.

I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Mr Ford for his service to the Tasmanian Government and the broader community.

Wes' leadership as Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Environment Protection Authority, particularly over the last nine years, has made a lasting impact, and his stewardship as a senior executive since 2021 has been exemplary.

Mr Ford's commitment to the Tasmanian State Service has been marked by an unwavering dedication to Tasmania's environment and its people.

The partnerships he has built across government, with Members of Parliament, and businesses have left a legacy of excellence.

I wish him the very best has he now moves into his well-earned retirement.

Tasmania is fortunate to have benefited from his significant expertise.

I thank Mr Ford for his outstanding service and dedication and congratulate him on an exceptional career.
