Today I have advised the Premier I will resign as Treasurer, Minister for Industrial Relations and Minister for Economic Growth. I will also resign as the member for Werribee.
It has been an honour and a privilege to serve the Allan Labor Government and the governments of former Premiers Bracks, Brumby and Andrews.
I have been honoured and humbled to serve the Victorian people for 18 years as a Member of Parliament, 14 years as a Minister and 10 years as Treasurer.
Renewal is important, and after 10 years as Treasurer it is time for me to hand over the reins.
Importantly, this will allow the Government to establish the strong team that will contest the 2026 election.
I would like to thank the incredible staff across the public service I have had the privilege of working with - your frank and fearless advice will be forever appreciated.
I would like to thank the great Australian trade union movement from which I came.
I would like to sincerely thank my staff, who have worked so tirelessly and fearlessly for the Government, the people of Werribee and of Victoria. You live your values every day.
Thank you to the people of Werribee for your support, it has been an honour serving you - and through you - the people of Victoria in Parliament.
To my family - Karen, Jack and Grace - you mean the world to me and I could not have done it without you.
It has been an honour to serve in the Allan Labor Government and I wish the Premier, my Cabinet and caucus colleagues all the very best for the future.
The people of Victoria deserve a Government that provides a clear and inclusive vision and Premier Allan and her team provides exactly that now and into the future.
