Statement On Additional Responsibilities

The Hon Dr Anne Aly MP
Minister for Early Childhood Education
Minister for Youth

I am honoured that this morning the Prime Minister announced that I will be taking on additional responsibilities as the Minister Assisting the Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The NDIS is an important Labor legacy that has changed so many lives and made a positive difference. This is an opportunity to build on this important work and ensure the NDIS helps Australians with disability have greater independence and better quality of life.

I want to pay tribute and extend my sincere thanks to the Hon Bill Shorten MP. His work in laying the foundations for the NDIS and tireless advocacy and leadership within the disability sector is an invaluable contribution to our nation.

I look forward to continuing this important work, in partnership with the sector, people with disability and their families to continue to ensure that people with disability are at the centre of the NDIS.

I want to congratulate the new minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, the Hon. Amanda Rishworth and I am excited to continue this work alongside her.
