Statement On Assistant Minister For Climate Change And Energy

The peak body for energy retailers and generators, the Australian Energy Council has congratulated Josh Wilson, MP on his appointment as assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy. It acknowledged the work of the outgoing assistant Minister, the Hon. Senator Jenny McCallister.

The Australian Energy Council's, General Manager Retail Policy, Jo De Silva, said Mr Wilson comes into the role at an important time with substantial work underway on Australia's energy transition including initiatives to improve energy efficiency and further develop Consumer Energy Resources.

"Our members look forward to working with Mr Wilson as we continue with our energy transition and develop these areas.

"We also thank Assistant Climate Change and Energy Minister, Senator McAllister, for her work in areas such as energy productivity and her involvement with the Energy Performance Advisory Group (EPAG), which includes bodies such as the Australian Energy Council.

"Energy performance has a critical role to play in delivering a coordinated, economy-wide, least-cost energy transition," Ms De Silva said.

Senator McAllister has been appointed Minister for Cities and Minister for Emergency Management.
