Bayside City Council is disappointed with the Minister for Planning's decision to approve a permit for a development on the former Kostka Hall campus site on South Road, Brighton.
In January this year, Council refused the application and sought improvements to the proposed development with an aim to balance the need for more housing in Bayside with protecting the much valued neighbourhood character and amenity of this part of the municipality.
Council listened to community concerns around this proposal and was willing to achieve consensus on the application through the appropriate channels.
Council is concerned with intervention in the planning system which fails to recognise the voices of our community and provide adequate transparency for such decisions.
