The Australian Industry Group members, officers and staff are very sad to hear of the passing of former Fair Work Commission President, Justice Geoffrey Giudice AO.
"The Judge made an enormous contribution to industrial relations in Australia," Innes Willox Chief Executive of the national employer association Ai Group said today.
"Justice Giudice was appointed President of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission in 1997 after 13 years at the Bar. In 2009 he was appointed as the first President of Fair Work Commission and led the tribunal until his retirement in 2012.
"During his time as President, he shaped the Commission and Australia's workplace relations system through a time of major change.
"The Judge personally epitomised the fairness and justice of the Fair Work Commission. He maintained the utmost integrity and professionalism throughout his career.
"We extend our condolences to the Judge's family at this sad time," Mr Willox said.
