Bonegilla Migrant Experience will serve as a backdrop for a feast of classical music when Murray River Fine Music hosts Inventi Ensemble on May 1.
The afternoon concert will take place in one of the historical recreational buildings from 2.30pm.
The Inventi Ensemble, a dynamic new chamber ensemble run by Artistic Directors Ben Opie (oboe) and Melissa Doecke (flute), will take top billing.
The music program includes a world premiere of a new work by renowned Australian composer and Border resident Gordon Kerry, along with two works by Dvořák, with arrangement by Glynn Davies.
Murray River Fine Music organiser Kerryn Beatty said Bonegilla's historical buildings were the perfect backdrop for the concert.
"One of the works is a meditation on migration and settlement, linking to the concert venue at Bonegilla," she said.
Ms Beatty is encouraging people to rug up for the event.
"We have arranged for space heaters but it is an old building so rug up and bring a cushion for your chair if possible," she said.
Bonegilla Migrant Experience Team Leader Shelley Knight welcomed the music concert.
"It's great to see one of the historical buildings once again serving its original purpose as a recreational space," she said.
"The musicians have a European style and so this is a nice connection for our theme and for the site."
Guests can take part in an optional pre-concert guided tour of the centre at 1.15pm.
The Inventi Ensemble has an enviable record of accomplishment among Border audiences for its fine performances and comprises Melissa Doecke (flute), Ben Opie (oboe), Emma Morrison (bassoon), Rollin Zhao (violin), Henry Justo (viola) and Steph Stamopoulos (cello).
Ms Beatty said the Inventi Ensemble would be taking on the monumental task of performing Dvořák's New World Symphony for six players.
"Renowned for their innovative approach to arranging large scale works for a small ensemble, this concert takes their virtuosity to a new level," she said.
"During the 2020 lockdown, they were able to reflect on what a new world might look like and as part of this discussion, approached composer Gordon Kerry to write a new partner piece for Dvořák's iconic work.
"Be prepared for an exhilarating display of creativity and musicianship in the world premiere performance in Albury-Wodonga. "
Food and beverages will be available for purchase prior to the concert when the doors open at 2pm.
