Step into a vibrant and imaginative world with Mélange, the newest exhibition by Melbourne-based award winning artist Anthony Breslin.
Known for his dynamic and thought-provoking works, Breslin invites audiences of all ages to experience an extraordinary blend of colour, form and composition.
Mélange marks Breslin's first major solo exhibition in over a decade and offers a captivating journey through his artistic evolution.
The exhibition merges Breslin's early surrealist works with new paintings, interactive art games and whimsical installations. From playful characters like Big Frog and springy metal bug sculptures, to the scull chair, visitors will encounter a host of imaginative creations that bring Breslin's colourful mind to life.
Breslin says the exhibitions name Mélange, encapsulates its essence.
"Every painting I create tells an individual and varied story, provoking different feelings and perceptions from the viewer," he explains.
"The idea of every painting is for every viewer to draw their own meaning and experience."
Incorporating interactive art games into his work is a new venture for Breslin, inspired by his desire to make art less precious and more accessible.
"Mélange is about making art more interactive and physically engaging and inspiring playfulness in adults and children."
His goal is to create a meaningful connection with his audience, while respecting their unique interpretations.
"I don't take any personal responsibility for what the audience thinks or believes, if anything at all, as that is sacred to them," he reflects.
After battling blood cancer and undergoing bone marrow and kidney transplants, Breslin has returned to his roots with renewed focus, pouring his energy into drawing, painting and creating mural works in his Mordialloc studio, Le Studio. Despite the challenges, Breslin's artistic output remains as vibrant and imaginative as ever.
With over 50 exhibitions, an art opera and several published books to his name, Mélange represents a triumphant return for an artist whose work continues to inspire creativity and wonder.
Don't miss this playful and immersive exhibition that promises to delight and captivate visitors of all ages.
The exhibition will be displayed in the Playspace Gallery at Hyphen – Wodonga Library Gallery from Saturday, 30 November 2024 to Sunday, 23 February 2025.
