Visitors will be able to step out with a copy of the latest Wagga Wagga + Surrounds Visitor Guide, complete with the best attractions, places to dine and stay when in our city and region.
The 2020/21 visitor guide focuses on the strong domestic travel market that has emerged following Covid-19 and features 150 tourism businesses and seven partner shire councils - all members of Wagga Wagga City Council's Wagga Tourism Partner Program.
It highlights the strong foodie, cycling and nature-based experiences the city and surrounding region has to offer.
Visitor Economy and Events Coordinator Fiona Hamilton said the 64-page publication is being distributed to local tourism outlets and visitor information centres.
"The guide is a marketing tool to help grow the 1.3M visitors, who spend an estimated $385M in our city and region each year," Ms Hamilton said.
"There is so much to see and do across the city and surrounding region and we wanted to highlight that to visitors from across New South Wales and interstate.
"As well as featuring our tourism experiences, there are also suggested itineraries, major event listings to help people plan visits around these festivals along with the inclusion of Wiradjuri language to help visitors culturally connect to our unique region."
Tourism employs more than 1500 people in the Wagga Wagga and surrounding region, many whom would have felt the impacts of the drop in tourist numbers due to the COVID-19 situation and restrictions on travel and gatherings.
"The aim of the guide this year is to leverage off the strong domestic and road tripping marketing, encouraging these visitors to add the Wagga Wagga + Surrounds region to their road trip itineraries - and spend in our city and towns," Ms Hamilton said.
"Local residents could also have a copy on hand, to get to know their own backyard or to share with visiting friends and family."
