A local wellness program has helped re-connect a City of Logan resident with one of her passions.
Woodhill local Carol Rudd took up Tai chi in 2020 through Logan City Council's Active & Healthy Program after having a break from the martial art for several years because of an injury.
"I stopped then went back to it," Mrs Rudd said after finding the program booklet for the free and low-cost health and wellbeing program at her local library.
The year-long Active & Healthy Program for 2024/2025 launches on Monday, July 1.
Mrs Rudd encourages everyone to take part in the many different activities available through the program which she described as a good community connector.
"Tai chi does me good and it is an all-round sport.
"Take a chance, try something new and live life to the full," she said.
Mrs Rudd has also attended diabetes management classes run through the Active & Healthy Program.
She said being so actively involved helped her cope with the grief of losing her husband seven years ago.
"It gives you a routine and a reason to keep moving.
"It keeps you living and out with other people. I'm never home."
New activities are added each year with hot yoga, basketball for over 50's and sensory bushwalking included for 2024/2025.
More than 200 activities, held either weekly or one-off, are available for all ages to enjoy.
The program supports people as they embark on their own personal health and wellbeing journey with activities tailored to all ages, genders, abilities cultural backgrounds, interests and fitness levels.
