Stolen Vehicle Charges At Mackay

A man has been charged following a traffic crash in Glenella overnight involving an alleged stolen vehicle.

Police were called around 12.15am to Glenella Road following reports a vehicle had crashed into a power pole.

The driver and sole occupant, a 31-year-old Clinton man, allegedly fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival.

Police and Dog Squad tracked the man a short distance away where he was arrested.

It will be further alleged a quantity of drugs was located in the vehicle.

The vehicle was reported stolen from Mackay Harbour on July 13.

The 31-year-old Clinton man has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving without due care and attention, and driving without a driver licence, and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

He is due to appear before Mackay Magistrates Court today.
