Northern Territory Police have arrested 8 male youths in relation to a stolen motor vehicle in Alice Springs overnight.
Just after 8am, police received a report of a vehicle stolen from a residential property in Gillen.
Later in the day, the stolen motor vehicle was involved in an incident with police at a nearby community, where the occupants damaged a police vehicle with rocks.
At approximately 7:20pm, police received a report of the stolen motor vehicle containing a number of youths driving dangerously around the Alice Springs CBD.
Strike Force Viper and the Dog Operations Unit were deployed to safely intercept the vehicle.
At 8:20pm tyre deflation devices were used to successfully disable the stolen motor vehicle, with the offenders fleeing into the bushland surrounding Todd River.
Eight male youths were arrested without incident.
Six 12-year-olds, a 13-year-old and an 11-year-old male will be further dealt with in accordance with the Youth Justice Act 2005 and made subject of interagency interventions coordinated through Operation Drina.
Commander James Gray-Spence said "Once again, our frontline members have been targeted.
"I commend the hard work of our frontline members who responded and quickly apprehended the offenders before they caused any harm to themselves or the public."
