This week is Homelessness Week (5 August – 11 August). The week provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the extent of homelessness, its causes and the urgent need for an additional 60,000 social homes in Victoria.
Currently 30,000 Victorians, including 6,800 children, do not have a home and are living in their car, staying in temporary accommodation, in a shelter or refuge or have nowhere to go.
