Spring is nearly here and that means our spring edition of Stonnington News is starting to hit letterboxes and it's also now available online.
In this edition read about a much-loved Stonnington icon: Prahran Skate Park, which has reopened to the public, and is looking fresh and amazing after a complete state-of-the-art rebuild.
Still housing Melbourne's only full-size public vert ramp, the famous and family-friendly space within Princess Gardens features a street circuit, mini ramp, rails, banks, plaza and contemporary obstacles, alongside an improved on-site basketball court with new lights for evening play, together with new landscaping, shade shelters and spectator spots. Come and check it out - we love it and so will you.
There's information on the much-anticipated new nature-strip-planting policy. A coup for Stonnington, it gives residents practical advice on how and what to plant on nature strips and helps our community contribute to local biodiversity and to greening our streets, neighbourhoods and suburbs.
Spring is the perfect time to explore your community through our events, festivals and activities. And we have a bumper crop of things to do, see and experience over spring starting with our what's on guide on page four, our Stonnington Engaged program featured in the centrespread celebrating the Seniors Festival for the whole month of October and details on the exciting and spectacular So Soiree Fringe Garden at Grattan Gardens from 10 to 24 October – don't miss it.
We also share stories about art, culture, sport, health and wellbeing, environment and business initiatives and all things local – like the Prahran Market – for you to enjoy right across Stonnington this spring.
