A severe thunderstorm warning for heavy rainfall, damaging wind and large hailstones has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology for people in the following areas, according to SA Police:
- Adelaide metropolitan
- Mount Lofty Ranges
- Lower Eyre Peninsula
- Eastern Eyre Peninsula
- Yorke Peninsula
- Flinders
- Mid North
- North West Pastoral
and parts of the West Coast, Riverland, Murraylands and North East Pastoral districts.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h in the warning area over the next several hours. There is also a slight risk of large hailstones with thunderstorms over Eyre Peninsula.
Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Wudinna, Cleve, Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Clare, Maitland, Murray Bridge, Roxby Downs and Leigh Creek.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
