The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is excited to launch its new Strategic Plan 2023-2028.
The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Strategic Plan 2023-2028 has launched
After months of consultation and development with staff, community, patients and consumers, the Plan is a comprehensive guide for the delivery of care over the next five years.
Supported with six strategic directions and 29 objectives, the key focus areas of the plan include:
- Closing the gap in health equality and life expectancy for our Aboriginal communities
- Taking action towards a more sustainable future through value based healthcare initiatives, and strengthening the financial and environmental sustainability of our Local Health District.
- Developing the District's research capability, investing in research infrastructure, and building staff capacity to undertake research that improves patient experiences and outcomes.
- Building positive work environments that bring out the best in everyone and equip our people with the skills and capabilities needed to meet the future care needs of our population.
NBMLHD Chief Executive, Kay Hyman, says the new Strategic Plan provides an important roadmap for how we will serve our growing community's health needs into the future.
"The next five years will see exciting new developments across the District so this plan comes at a critical time. We've done a lot of work with our consumers, community and staff to create impactful and meaningful objectives that will help us achieve our goals," says Kay.
Informed by NSW Health's Future Health roadmap, the Strategic Plan has been embedded into the annual planning and reporting cycle, to help staff understand how their combined efforts contribute to the bigger picture goals of our Local Health District.
"This Strategic Plan will help us achieve our vision of together, achieving better health. With a commitment to involve patients in their own care, improve their experiences, and supporting and equipping our staff to deliver high quality care, the Plan demonstrates the action we are taking to work in partnership to address our growing and ageing population," says Kay.
