Nine people have been charged for alleged drug and firearm supply following an investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs under Strike Force Iverach.
In November 2023, Strike Force Iverach was established by the Central Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad – North to investigate the alleged supply of heroin in the Sydney metropolitan area by a 28-year-old man and his associates.
Following extensive inquiries, a search warrant was executed at an address in Bucca, near Coffs Harbour, yesterday (Wednesday 5 June 2024) with the assistance of Australian Border Force (ABF).
At that location, a 28-year-old man was arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station.
He has been charged with 12 offences, including:
- Three counts of supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity
- Two counts of supply prohibited drug more than commercial quantity
- Two counts of supply unregistered firearm – pistol
- Supply prohibited drug more than small and less than indictable quantity
- Supply prohibited drug more than large commercial quantity
- Knowingly direct activities of criminal group
- Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime
- Fail to comply digital evidence access order direction
Police will allege in court the 28-year-old man facilitated and directed a criminal syndicate involved in the supply of heroin.
He was refused bail to appear before Coffs Harbour Local Court today (Thursday 6 June 2024).
Further search warrants were executed in Bankstown, Auburn Ryde, Harington Park and Lidcombe.
During those search warrants, police located and seized more than 40kg of methylamphetamine, 2kg of cocaine, 1.8kg of MDMA, 1.5kg of heroin, 18kg of cannabis, 1kg of pseudoephedrine, electronic cash counters and more than $145,000 in cash.
A further eight people – two women, aged 21 and 24, and six men, aged 21, 22, two aged 23 and two aged 26 – were arrested and taken to Auburn, Burwood, Bankstown, Gladesville and Narellan Police Stations.
The 22-year-old man was arrested at Jocelyn Street, Chester Hill, where police searched a vehicle and located and seized 1.4kg of heroin.
He was taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug more than large commercial quantity, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity and learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester.
One of the 23-year-old men was charged with 11 offences, including:
- Three counts of supply prohibited drug more than large commercial quantity
- Two counts of supply prohibited drug more than commercial quantity
- Three counts of deal with proceeds of crime less than $100000
- Supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity
- Supply prohibited drug more than small and less than indictable quantity
- Participate in criminal group contribute criminal activity
The 24-year-old woman was charged with:
- Three counts of supply prohibited drug more than commercial quantity
- Two counts supply prohibited drug more than large commercial quantity
- Two counts of deal with proceeds of crime less than $100000
- Supply prohibited drug more than small and less than indictable quantity
- Participate criminal group contribute criminal activity
They were refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today (Thursday 6 June 2024).
The 21-year-old woman was charged with three counts of supply prohibited drug more than large commercial quantity, supply prohibited drug more than commercial quantity and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
The second 23-year-old man was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug more than commercial quantity, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, possess or use prohibited weapon without permit and fail to comply digital evidence access order direction.
One of the 26-year-old men was charged with three counts of supply prohibited drug more than large commercial quantity, two counts of supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.
The second 26-year-old man was charged with three counts of supply prohibited drug more than large commercial quantity, supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
They were refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today (Thursday 6 June 2024).
The 21-year-old man was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug more than large commercial quantity, supply prohibited drug more than commercial quantity, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, supply cannabis more than indictable and less than commercial quantity and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime less than $5000.
He was refused bail to appear before Picton Local Court today (Thursday 6 June 2024).
Throughout the investigation, investigators were assisted by officers from the Tactical Operations Unit, AirWing, Coffs Clarence Police District, Central Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad – South, Bankstown Region Enforcement Squad, Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad and the Dog Unit.
