A man will face court today charged with intimidation following alleged antisemitic abuse in Bondi at the weekend.
Officers attached to Strike Force Pearl were patrolling the Bondi area about 7.40am on Saturday (1 February 2025), when they were flagged down by a woman reporting antisemitic abuse by a man allegedly seen in the yard of private premises in Flood Street.
Following inquiries, a 21-year-old man was arrested at a unit on Bondi Road, Bondi, about 1.30pm yesterday (Sunday 2 February 2025), by officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command.
The man was taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm - personal.
He was also charged with destroy or damage property for an unrelated incident at Newtown on Wednesday 15 January and breach of bail. Two outstanding warrants for unrelated domestic and personal violence and shoplifting offences were also executed.
The man has been refused bail to appear in Newtown Local Court today (Monday 3 February 2025).
A total of 12 people have now been charged under Strike Force Pearl,
Four men – aged 31, 37, 40 and 26 – have been charged following fires at two businesses in Bondi in October 2024,
Three men – aged 20,19 and 21 – have been charged after 10 vehicles and buildings were allegedly deliberately damaged in Woollahra in November 2024,
A 34-year-old woman has been charged after vehicles and buildings were allegedly deliberately damaged in Woollahra in December 2024, and now,
Two men – aged 33 and 37 – have been charged after a building in Newtown was allegedly graffitied and attempted to be set alight.
A 37-year-old man has been charged after a wall at Kingsford was allegedly damaged with offensive graffiti.
A 21-year-old man has now been charged after the alleged intimidation of a woman at Bondi.
