Eligible local high schools and education providers are encouraged to nominate up to two students for funding support through Council's Education Sponsorship program.
The annual Education Sponsorship program encourages excellence in education provision by supporting local secondary and pathway-educators to recognise and financially award eligible students.
Eligible education providers can nominate up to two students from Year 9, 10, 11 or 12, or aged between 15-21 years to receive a $250 grant to assist with the cost of their education or training.
This year, the age range of eligible students has been broadened so that students who achieve in a diverse range of learning pathways can be celebrated and recognised. Students must be Baw Baw residents studying full-time.
High schools and education providers eligible to nominate students include:
- Chairo Christian College (Drouin campus),
- Community College Gippsland (Warragul campus),
- Drouin Secondary College,
- Federation Training (Warragul campus),
- Lowanna College, Newborough (services many students from Erica and Rawson)
- Marist-Sion College,
- Neerim District Secondary College,
- St Paul's Anglican Grammar School,
- Trafalgar High School,
- Warragul and District Specialist School, and

All providers are able to nominate one or two students. Where two nominations are made, at least one of the students must identify as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
Nominations should reflect outstanding commitment in two or more of the following qualities:
- Optimistic: A positive outlook about their future and their approach to studies.
- Supportive: Valuing other students, empowering them to be successful in their studies and investing in their growth and development.
- Respectful: Respectful of themselves, education provider and of the diverse views and perspectives of the school community.
- Pragmatic: Resolving issues and making the best possible use of their time, effort and resources.
- Authentic: Undertaking their studies in an open, honest and transparent manner.
Nominations are now open and will close on Saturday 12 October 2019.
Once submitted, applications will be assessed and determined by a panel of Officers. Successful nominations will be announced towards the end of the year.
