Structure Fire - Bakewell

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service responded to a structure fire that occurred in Bakewell on Sunday afternoon.

Around 1:15pm, Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of a fire at a fourth-floor apartment in a unit block on Mannikan Circuit.

Smoke detectors alerted the two apartment occupants to the blaze, and they evacuated the building.

Firefighters attended and extinguished the flames.

Police declared a crime scene and determined the fire not to be suspicious.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation.

Acting District Officer Jo-Anna Kenney said, "Thanks to the quick reporting by the residents and timely response by Firefighters, no one was seriously injured, and no other properties were impacted.

"This incident serves as a poignant reminder to ensure your smoke detectors are in working order as they can save lives."
