NT Government

Twenty international students have been selected for this year's Study NT Student Ambassador program to promote the Territory as an ideal study destination.

Minister for International Education, Migration and Population, Robyn Cahill, said the 2025 Student Ambassadors were exceptional students who were passionate about studying, living, and working in the Northern Territory.

"I'd like to welcome our 2025 Study NT Ambassadors, your passion and commitment to the program will help showcase the Territory as a warm, welcoming, multicultural study destination to other potential international students," said Ms Cahill.

This year's cohort come from around the world including Indonesia, India, Nigeria, Brazil, China, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Vietnam, Colombia, and Pakistan.

During their year-long appointment ambassadors will showcase the Territory study experience across social media, webinars and in marketing campaigns with Study NT.

Ambassadors will also attend industry events and participate in community events to showcase the valuable contribution international students make to the Northern Territory.

Throughout the program ambassadors will receive a range of training opportunities to develop their leadership, community engagement, public speaking, writing and media skills to help them promote the Northern Territory.

"International students are an important part of the Territory's economy and community, sharing with us their diverse cultures, impressive skills and inspiring stories," said Ms Cahill.

"The international education and training sector is a significant industry for the Territory, representing the NT's second largest services export, generating $236.5 million in export revenue for the Territory.

"We are focused on cementing the Territory's reputation as a competitive destination to study, work and live as we work to restore the Territory's lifestyle and rebuild our economy."

As of September 2024, 5,245 international students were enrolled across 23 NT international education and training providers.

Student ambassador: Sana-e-Zehra Haidry, Master of Speech and Language Therapy, Charles Darwin University, said: "I chose to study in the Northern Territory because of its welcoming multicultural community and the opportunity to address real-world challenges through community-based clinical work and research."

"Applying for the Study NT Ambassador Program was a natural step to promote this incredible study destination and share my journey of personal and professional growth," said Sana-e-Zehra.

"I hope to inspire others to explore the NT's unique opportunities while developing my leadership and networking skills to contribute meaningfully to the community."

The Finocchiaro CLP Government is committed to increasing the number of international students studying in the Territory.

The Study NT Student Ambassadors will officially commence in February.
