Stunning Otways Waterfall Upgraded

Parks Victoria

Half a million visitors a year can't be wrong—Erskine Falls near Lorne is stunning place to visit! Winter and Spring rains make the coming months the perfect time to visit.

Located on the Country of the Eastern Maar people in Great Otway National Park, Erskine Falls has recently been upgraded as part of Victoria's Great Outdoors Program. These enhancements make for a more enjoyable and safer experience out in nature.

Visitors can enjoy spectacular views from the top and base of the falls. The improved viewing platform at the base of the falls offers a close-up view of the 35-metre cascade plunging into the rockpool below, surrounded by lush fern gullies.

Enjoy this spectacular view from a safe, comfortable distance with plenty of space for photos and to take it all in. Improvements to lookouts, walking tracks, and parking ensure a better experience overall when visiting the falls.

For those who enjoy a longer walk, explore the Lemonade Creek track through the ferny gullies and forest. Two deteriorating footbridges along the track have been rebuilt, improving access to this part of the national park.

As always, follow safety advice and check conditions to ensure a safe visit. For a more peaceful experience, visit mid-week or during the cooler months to avoid crowds and see the falls at their best.

Upgrades were delivered as part of the Victoria's Great Outdoors program, a $106.6 million investment into better campgrounds, walking trails, 4WD tracks and visitor facilities across the state.

This program has already delivered improvements to nearby Big Hill, Allenvale and Hammonds campgrounds in Great Otways National Park, and upgrades will also be completed at Lake Elizabeth campground. Other locations statewide have also been improved, including Cathedral Range and Bunyip state parks. More upgrades are to come at many parks, including Bendigo Regional Park where a new campground is being created.
