Various community individuals and organisations have benefitted from Shellharbour City Council's $16,100 worth of sponsorship and financial assistance which were officially announced at the Shellharbour Civic Centre on Wednesday.
Each year, Council provides funding to assist local sporting, cultural, educational, health, welfare, and other groups from within the community via Council's Community Donations and Sponsorship Policy.
The Policy makes it easier to apply for donations and sponsorships for local sports, events, activities, and programs that benefit the community's wellbeing. Council remains committed to supporting local community groups to achieve success.

One of the successful applicants was Five Islands Outrigger Canoe Club, who received a $2,000 donation toward the annual Outrigger Regatta, the biggest event of its kind in NSW in 2024.
They have over 400 competitors from teams across coastal NSW and have this year been able to enter a local team into each category. This is due to an influx of volunteers enabling the athletes to focus solely on competing.
Other organisations who benefited from Council sponsorships included funding for five local gymnastics and acrobatic athletes following their recent venture to the World Acrobatic Age Championships in Portugal in September.
Aside from sport, Warilla RSL were also successful recipients for funding for a brand new speaker system for their future ANZAC Day ceremonies.
Successful applicants were celebrated by Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer at an official Ceremony and Afternoon Tea at the Civic Centre.
Mayor Homer congratulated the recipients and praised the amazing outcomes these groups deliver for the community.
"Council is incredibly proud to support these local community groups to further enhance opportunities amongst a number of existing activities in the Shellharbour community," Mayor Homer said.
"These not-for-profit organisations and individual stars put in a mountain of work for success, and it is important that Council support them on this journey.
"We are pleased to support these brilliant people in our community who continue to put Shellharbour on the map."
List of successful individual and group applicants include:
- Allegra Fosteris, Zaniah Hourigan Carrera, Abbey Mushet, Ellyse Willetts, Lily Biletic - World Acrobatic Age Championships Portugal
- Kynan Burke - Canoe World Championships
- Tahlia Bonanno, Sophie Tayler - Australian Martial Arts Competition
- Zach Gillet - Australian All School Athletics Championships
