A Sudan-born man is expected to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court today (21 January, 2025), charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated curfew conditions.
The man, 46, was charged yesterday (20 January, 2025) after he was located in Melbourne.
It will be alleged he breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa on 14 January, 2025, by failing to observe his residential curfew obligations.
The man has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with a curfew condition, contrary to section 76C(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).
This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and/or a $93,900 fine.
