Sudan-born Man Charged With Visa Breaches In Sydney

A Sudan-born man has appeared before Blacktown Local Court today (31 January, 2025), charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated curfew conditions.

The man, 29, was charged today (31 January, 2025), after he was located in Sydney.

It will be alleged the man breached one of the conditions of his Commonwealth visa on multiple occasions since 21 January, 2025, by failing to abide by his residential curfew obligations.

The man has been charged with twelve counts of failing to comply with a curfew condition, contrary to section 76C(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and/or a $93,900 fine. 

The man was remanded in custody to next appear at the Blacktown Local Court on 3 February, 2025.
