Sudanese-born Man Charged With 11 Visa Breaches

A Sudanese-born man is expected to appear before Perth Magistrates Court today (17 July, 2024) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated reporting conditions.

The AFP charged the man, 33, today (17 July, 2024) after he was arrested in Perth on other matters by the Western Australia Police Force.

It will be alleged the man breached a condition of his Commonwealth visa on 11 occasions.

The man has been charged with 11 counts of failing to report daily as per his conditions, contrary to section 76B(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and/or a $93,900.
