Funding towards library upgrade
Council has accepted a $72,380 State Government grant funding offer through the NSW Office of Responsible Gambling Clubgrants Category 3 (Cultural Infrastructure) towards the Wagga Wagga City Library Stage 1 upgrade.
The Club Grant funds will help fund accessible furniture and a fixed modular technology dispenser and more café style technology bench extensions around the perimeter of the library space to optimise customer self-check in and out capabilities.
In Stage 1: 2020-2022 of the Library Review it was identified to redesign the existing library spaces and to examine adjacent spaces to accommodate increased demand for community use, along with contemporising the overall library layout and customer use experience.
Detailed planning is also underway to complete the redesign of the front entrance of the library, which includes the removal of the large front counter to be replaced with a contemporary concierge welcome desk that will be flexible and mobile across the library level 1 footprint.
In addition, State Library NSW infrastructure funding was secured for the planned extension to the children's area, to be completed by June 2022.

Turvey Park DA approved
A Development Application for the demolition of an existing shed and erection of a shed in the Heritage Conservation Area at 12 Macleay Street, Turvey Park has been approved by Council. The application approval is subject to conditions.

Success of theDVproject:2650
A three-year project aimed at preventing domestic and family violence in Wagga Wagga and promoting gender equality has been hailed a success which has provided a foundation for more community action.
Designed as a grassroots primary initiative, theDVproject:2650 was a partnership between the Wagga Women's Health Centre and Wagga Wagga City Council which finished on 30 June this year.
A Project Closeout Report was endorsed by Councillors tonight who recognised its success for raising awareness within the community, and emphasised this was "just the beginning of the journey" towards continuing the good work which has been achieved during the past three years.

Council supports Scouts' land management bid
Council has agreed to relinquish control of a Crown Land Reserve at Oura and support an application from Scouts NSW Riverina Region to take over management of the reserve.
The reserve adjoins the existing Camp Kurrajong site which has been managed by Scouts NSW Riverina Region for more than 70 years.
The organisation has advised it plans to use the site as a habitat protection and monitoring site for a variety of bird and marsupial life. Scouts also have funding which can be used to replace the fences bordering the public reserve and rehabilitate site damage.
With Council support, Scouts NSW Riverina Region can apply for the change through the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment – Crown Lands.

Lease agreement approved
Council has agreed to enter into a lease agreement with J.J. Richards & Son Pty Ltd for part 84 Treatment Works Access Road, Forest Hill.

Preparation for future property sales
Council has endorsed conducting the necessary preparation and enabling works as part of a future sales process for land parcels in Bomen and East Wagga Wagga.
A further report will come back to Council outlining financials and proposed sale methodology.
