Bayside Council's annual Summer Foreshore Program, Love Our Bay, is successfully encouraging beach goers to think about the safety and the environment.
Each year the Summer Foreshore Program encourages visitors to the foreshore follow a few basic guidelines:
- Be mindful of others
- Respect the environment
- Bin your rubbish
- Swim within the enclosed areas
- Keep a watchful eye on young children and inexperienced swimmers.
- Obey parking signs.
- Use the coal-fired BBQs in designated areas.
- Dispose of hot coals correctly in hot coals bins.
The popular Bayside Beach Buddies have also been on duty during peak to lend a helping hand and provide information to beach goers.
This year Council has also been running a promotional campaign where visitors to the foreshore can win a reuseable beach pack, including a bag, water bottle, coffee cup and metal straws by posting a photo on social media demonstrating positive beach behaviour and tagging @baysidensw.
Council is also running regular quizzes on social media to promote beach safety.
