Following popular entertainment activations at three locations last summer, the outdoor fun will expand to seven sites across the City, featuring about 100 live music performances.
There's something for everyone to enjoy with live music and performances from Amos Roach, Charlie Needs Braces, Pal Mar, Ignite Bollywood Dance Company and many more.
Mayor Heather Cunsolo will launch Summer Sessions at 5 pm, Saturday 3 December at Acland Plaza, St Kilda.
The launch includes live music from Darren Clinch and Canisha C-K, a dance performance by Mexbourne and a bubble-making workshop with Dr Hubble.
We are proud that First Nations performers make up more than 50 per cent of the participating artists. While over 75 per cent of Summer Sessions artists are local to Port Phillip with many selected from Council's Live N Local Featured Artist Database.
Cr Cunsolo said Summer Sessions provides a boost to local musicians and artists while providing extra foot traffic to traders by activating public spaces with free entertainment.
"We're proud to bring back Summer Sessions with free entertainment spanning across Port Phillip from Elwood to Port Melbourne," she said.
"Come for the free music and entertainment and stick around to enjoy a drink and grab a bite to eat at a nearby restaurant this summer."
Programming runs from December to March with locations including Albert Park, South Melbourne, Ripponlea, Elwood, Acland Street (St Kilda), Fitzroy Street (St Kilda) and Port Melbourne.
