The Crisafulli Government is delivering on its election commitment, with the Budget providing a $1 million boost for The Everyday Foundation to establish a new centre on the Sunshine Coast.
The Everyday Foundation helps more than a 1000 people in need a week, offering vital support through a low-cost food supermarket, emergency relief service, meal programs and school pantry initiatives, however demand has soared due to Labor's Cost of Living Crisis.
Support from the Crisafulli Government will enable The Everyday Foundation to renovate a new premises, bring existing services under one roof and expand the support available for locals struggling to make ends meet.
The Crisafulli Government is investing in community organisations like The Everyday Foundation as part of its plan to provide targeted cost of living relief for Queensland families, with the Budget also delivering the new $100 Back to School Boost and $200 Play On! Sport Vouchers.
Premier David Crisafulli said The Everyday Foundation could now make a real difference to the lives of more Sunshine Coast locals.
"We promised we would back The Everyday Foundation during the election, and in our first Budget we have delivered," Premier Crisafulli said.
"For more than two decades this organisation has been supporting the people of the Sunshine Coast and now with demand higher than ever it's vital we support them."
Minister for Families, Seniors and Disability Services Amanda Camm said the Budget delivers support to help ease Labor's Cost of Living Crisis.
"A decade of expensive failures by Labor have hit Queenslanders hard in the hip pocket," Minister Camm said.
"The Crisafulli Government's funding means The Everyday Foundation will be able to help more struggling locals with what they need when they need it."
Member for Nicklin Marty Hunt said the Crisafulli Government's support for The Everyday Foundation will make a real difference to our local community and strengthen the food security safety net.
"The Everyday Foundation delivers more than 22,000 free meals a year, with demand growing this is the right investment at the right time for the people who need it the most," Mr Hunt said.
Director of The Everyday Foundation Pastor Jonathan Gullo said the Crisafulli Government's funding means the charity can move into the new space even sooner.
"The building was the site of the original Coles and has been a part of the Nambour community for close to a century, we're honoured we'll be able to add to its legacy while continuing to build our own," Pastor Gullo said.
"The Everyday Foundation's mission is to meet people in their place of need but also to help them on their journey out of poverty and to see lives transformed. We're hoping that we're able to serve more people as our program offerings can expand with our new space."
