The Allan Labor Government is continuing to invest across Northern Victoria, with funding for the infrastructure and facilities that communities need to celebrate their culture and traditions.
Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ingrid Stitt today visited the Albanian Moslem Society in Shepparton to announce that nine local organisations across the Northern Victoria Region will receive a share of over $9.7 million of funding, through the latest round of the Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund.
The Albanian Moslem Society Shepparton will receive just over $250,000 in funding to construct an outdoor covered shelter, supporting the local Albanian Muslim community to host events and activities outdoors at their existing facility on Acacia Street.
Mildura Sikh Association will receive funding of $400,000 to renovate their carpark, internal flooring, and supply and install a new septic tank at the Gurudwara Singh Sabha in Mildura.
In Wangaratta, the Da Vinci Social Club will receive just over $45,000 to construct a soft floor playground, enabling families to have a safe space for their children to play in.
The successful organisations represent the diverse cultural landscape of Victoria with 89 ethnicities and 20 faith groups supported through the latest round of the Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund. More than 50 projects will receive funding in this round of grants.
Since 2014, the Labor Government has invested more than $88 million to deliver over 560 multicultural community infrastructure projects which have benefitted thousands of Victorians.
Funding through the flagship Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund supports access to culturally appropriate spaces for Victorians to connect with community and have a sense of belonging.
