Kingston is again proud to join the 16 Days of Activism campaign to prevent family violence and violence against women.
We are putting equality and respect in the spotlight as we pursue our vision for a safe, respectful, and supportive community that is free from all forms of inequality and violence.
Violence against women continues at unacceptable levels across Australia, with more than 1 in 3 women experiencing men's violence; and on average a woman is killed by a man she knows every 10 days - in 2024 that number is tracking even higher.
We are committed to creating a future that is free from all forms of violence and very proud to be supporting the campaign through ongoing advocacy and taking practical steps to make a real and lasting difference.
The campaign is led annually by UN Women for the prevention of violence against women and runs from 25 November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10 December (Human Rights Day).
This 16 Days we encourage everyone to reflect and support how we can all strengthen positive, equal and respectful relationships.

- Participate in the Walk Against Family Violence with your friends and family in Melbourne CBD on Friday 22 November at 11am #WAFV2024.
- Photograph our Kingston City Hall clock tower lit up orange for the campaign and share on your socials how you support respect and equality.
