Supporting Health, Inclusivity And Wellbeing In Bayside

Supporting local organisations such as the Chatty Café is one of several ways we are facilitating the improvement of health and wellbeing in our community.

The initiative, which sets up cafes, bars and restaurants for people to make new friendships, was a finalist for the LGPro Vic Positive Ageing and Wellbeing Awards.

Chatty Café events help meet the goals of our Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2021-2025, which guides our strategy for improving public health and wellbeing for the Bayside community.

Implementation of the strategy is driven by two annual action plans: the Health and Wellbeing Action Plan and Disability Action Plan.

Highlights from the third year of the Health and Wellbeing Action plan include delivering our Volunteer Expo, funding local initiatives through our community grants program that include supporting Bayside Community Neighbourhood Houses.

The Disability Action Plan saw several highlights including enhancing accessibility of Council information and communication, upgrading disability parking and establishing a local support network for unpaid carers.

Partnerships are essential for progressing our health and wellbeing goals. Council will continue collaborating with local organisations, agencies, community groups and clubs to deliver the priorities outlined in the plan.

Both strategic actions are entering their fourth and final year and will continue to support a connected, inclusive and healthy Bayside community.
