Small businesses are the lifeblood of our community, providing jobs, products and services to our residents. Of the 18,000 businesses providing more than 69,000 local jobs, small business makes up 90% of the mix, which is testament to our City's entrepreneurial spirit.
That's why Council is committed to fostering a thriving environment for small to medium-sized businesses with a number of initiatives including free business resources, a local jobs portal, and a robust business events and training program.
We also support businesses through Fairfield City HQ, a resource hub offering tech-smart meeting rooms, co-working spaces, creative recording studios, and mentoring programs for entrepreneurs, start-ups, and established businesses. And of course we celebrate our local businesses. One of the most prestigious ways we celebrate and recognise local business achievements is through the Fairfield City Local Business Awards, which Council has been a major sponsor of for many years.
