Supporting 'Syrena' Polish House to cater for community

Rowville's Polish House is set for a major expansion with the Liberals and Nationals committing $120,000 in funding for new catering facilities.

'Syrena' has been the home to the Polish community from across Melbourne's Eastern suburbs since 1984, when they opened the purpose-built centre.

As one of the most popular venues in the local area, the Polish Club noticed a demand for larger events and began making plans to expand their kitchen facilities to meet this growing need.

The Liberals and Nationals' commitment would allow for community groups across Knox to benefit from having access to modern kitchen facilities which can cater for larger events.

Member for Rowville, Kim Wells, said it was always a pleasure to go to an event at the Polish Club where the local community are welcomed with open arms.

"The Club's President, Zygmunt Bielinski and the other board members volunteer a huge amount of time and take a lot of pride in the organisation they have built here."

"It's a wonderful venue and we hope the new kitchen facilities will benefit the club and the community for years into the future."

Member for Ferntree Gully, Nick Wakeling, said these new catering facilities would allow community groups to provide freshly cooked meals for events on site.

"The Polish Club have hosted our Victoria Day Award ceremonies on many occasions and have made a huge contribution to generations of the Polish community and the wider community across Melbourne's east.

"Only the Liberals and Nationals will provide local community groups with up-to-date facilities to actively engage in community activities."
