Supporting Territory arts sector: Grants recipients announced

The Northern Territory Government continues to invest in the arts sector, supporting the growth and excellence of art professionals and organisations, and encouraging community participation in arts and culture.

To improve the Territory's creative and cultural economy, the Territory Government has invested in the Arts and Culture COVID-19 Recovery Program and the Arts Projects Program grant rounds.

Sixteen recipients received a total of $229,541 through the 2020-21 Round 1 Arts and Culture COVID-19 Recovery Program and Arts Projects Program. They are:

· Britt Guy – Hail Moon – Exploration of Moving Image in the Northern Suburbs

· Ciella Lee Williams – Ruptured by Ciella Williams

· Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation Limited – Online Creative Masterclasses

· David James Garnham – David Garnham & the Reasons to Live (online content development and marketing)

· Elliat Rich – The Things We Made Next

· Fiona Carter – Cloudlines (equipment and online resources)

· Guts Dance Central Australia Incorporated – Premiere of 'Value for Money' at Araluen Arts Centre

· James Peter Mangohig – 100 Cities: Developing and Presenting an Immersive Cross Art Form Celebration of Sounds from Around the World

· Jocelyn Tribe – Jiwa Album Production Project

· Lorna Wilson – Titjikala Women's Choir Music Workshop

· Naina Sen – Development and Creation of 'Sundari' (large scale mixed media installation)

· National Trust Of Australia (NT) – Louvred Lounge Series 2021

· Phoebe Olivia Wear – Emerging Artist Recording Project

· Rona Lawrence – Wavelengths: Ripple Effect Band and the Darwin Symphony Orchestra

· Tania Maree Leeman – Collide Production

· Tarzan McDonald – Do I Seduce You?

Currently, Territory artists, arts workers and arts organisations can apply for various grants via https://grantsnt.nt.gov.au.

Funding is available for:

Arts Industry Development:

  • Accessible Arts – offering grants up to $30,000 that demonstrate the development and sustainability of the arts and disability sector. Applications close 22 February 2021.
  • Sector Growth and Sustainability – offering grants up to $50,000 to support creativity, capability and sustainability of artists and arts organisations, including small to medium arts businesses that are recognised as high quality and contribute to the Territory's arts sector through creative practice, business ingenuity and innovation. Applications close 22 February 2021.

Creative Fellowships: Offering grants up to $20,000 to support established NT artists and arts workers to undertake a sustained period of research or professional development to benefit their own practice and the development of the arts, culture and the creative industries in the NT. Applications close 15 March 2021.

Arts Residencies and Exchanges: Offering grants up to $10,000 to support early and mid- career artists and arts workers to access structured professional development, skills exchanges and mentoring from leading NT art sector professionals. Applications close 15 March 2021.

Regional Museums: Offering grants up to $50,000 for regional museums, keeping places and community art galleries for projects that support the preservation, collection and display of the unique cultural heritage of the Northern Territory. Applications close 23 March 2021.

Round 2 of the Arts and Culture COVID-19 Recovery Program and Arts Projects Program grants will open in March 2021.
