A former landfill site in Sunshine will begin its transformation into new educational, recreational, cultural, commercial and community facilities thanks to a $500,000 investment from the Albanese Government.
The investment under the Government's urban Precincts and Partnership Program is part of of an $8.8 million investment in projects across Victoria to revitalise urban spaces to meet the needs of growing communities.
The funding for a feasibility study and business case will support planning for the new 74-hectare 'central park' to be located within the Sunshine Priority Precinct and the Albion Quarter urban renewal area.
The park is part of the broader Sunshine Station Precinct Activation.
The Brimbank council has established a coalition of partners, including neighbouring residents, stakeholders, advisors, government department and agencies, elected government officials, and the Brimbank Youth Council.
This funding demonstrates the commitment of the Albanese Government to value to voices of locals and develop partnerships that will help build Australia's future in the long term.
